At a time, when several US states are in a race to get online gambling legalized there, federal government may soon take part to overtake them. It is believed that efforts are being made for getting a national bill passed very soon.
It is believed that before the spring is over, you are going to see a possible online gambling legislation get presented at the House.
One of the major contributors to this will be Sen. Harry Reid. Last year, he had come up with a long-advocated gambling legislation for federal government. However, this legislation didn’t even got introduced to the House. Now, he is working very hard (though behind the scenes) for forming a coalition, which can support such measures.
In 2011, Joe Barton, R-Texas, did introduce an internet poker bill. However, it failed to attract much support.
He said, “With a lot of states giving a go ahead to online gambling, it should work as an incentive for the federal government to act.” He is planning to have a bill introduced this spring.
Barton also said, “It doesn’t matter if you are voting for or against online gambling, you would still never wish to have 50 different states have 50 gambling laws. Everyone would wish to have uniformity across the nation.”
